Information monitoring and strategic intelligence is a matter of technology, of course, but above all it involves humans: the client, you, and the information/intelligence provider, us. Because "there is strength in numbers", information professionals involved in monitoring projects have joined together to form the Communauté de pratique de veille en santé et services sociaux du Québec, or CdPveille3S. We introduce you to this community and describe the role that Cogniges, a member since 2018, plays in it for the benefit of its own clientele as well as its peers.
An Active Community Since 2009
Created by about twenty passionate information watchers from public organizations of the public health network or working in partnership with them, the CdPveille3S exists since 2009. Its mission is to "contribute to the improvement of information monitoring practices in health and social services in Quebec". For these information professionals, "information monitoring is a dynamic and rigorous process of surveillance, management and dissemination of recent and relevant information to anticipate issues and facilitate decision-making by the actors involved."
Why did they create a community of practice? Not only to share their knowledge, practices and experiences, but also to co-construct a collective intelligence, all for the benefit of the clientele of each member organization. Indeed, a community of practice is a grouping of voluntary peers driven by a common interest in the exchange and advancement of knowledge, all on a non-profit basis.
Over the years, the CdPveille3S has built and displayed its best practices, has become known not only in Quebec, but also across the Atlantic [1], and, in a perspective of continuous improvement, has undergone four evaluations [2]. This collective intelligence shines through on the Passerelles platform [3], which is accessible free of charge to all Internet users.
Cogniges Within the CdPveille3S
At the invitation of one of its clients, Cogniges knocked on the door of the Community in 2018. We were admitted without difficulty, even though there are few consulting firms in the community. Our business card reminds us that our very first monitoring mandate - scientific and media in the pharmaceutical field - dates back to 2005 and lasted over seven years.
Above all, rest assured that the confidentiality of the mandates you entrust to us is fully respected: within the Community, we talk about practices, models, frameworks of reference and tools, but not about the specific requests of our respective clients.
Take advantage today of what we have learned since 2018 from our peers and deployed for you with each assignment:
- Ongoing information and strategic intelligence training, as members stay abreast of the latest developments in the field and generously share them.
- Consolidation and continuous improvement of our monitoring processes.
- A solid framework of reference, including a harmonized monitoring cycle, but in which each professional implements a unique combination of methods, tools and deliverables, depending on the needs of his or her clients.
- Diversification and enrichment of our toolbox.
- A focus on trends in the field, including the increasing customization of topics and monitoring services.
- Successful networking with committed peers.
Perennial communities of practice are rare: the CdPveille3S continues its life cycle with the same passion and determination, engines which animate and will continue to animate Cogniges.
